instructions

Bake a lovely batch of delicious cupcakes in some of our chocolate brown baking cases and leave these to cool before decorating.

Preparing The Frosting

1. The first thing you need to do is colour your frosting a lovely green colour. You can easily achieve the shade you want by using plain white vanilla frosting and a small amount of green paste colour. Dip the end of a cocktail stick into the paste colour and run this through the frosting.

2. Using a spoon or palette knife, mix the paste into the frosting until you end up with a consistent colour. Only use a small amount of paste colour to begin with, as you can always add more to gain a more intense shade.

3. Pop the 1M piping tip into your piping bag and fill this with green frosting. Twist the bag at the top to ensure all of the frosting is packed densely within the bag.

Piping The Frosting

4. Starting in the centre of one of your cupcakes, work your way outwards and upwards, piping a tall swirl of frosting. Repeat this step for the rest of your cupcakes.

Decorating The Cupcakes

5. Take one of the edible animal head decorations and place this in the centre of the swirl, pushing down gently so that the animal sits comfortably on top of the cupcake.

6. Next, take 5 wafer leaves and place these around the animal head, ensuring the front 2 leaves cover the face slightly.

7. You can make the animal paws by rolling a small piece of sugarpaste into a round ball. To add additional detail such as claws, roll another piece of sugarpaste in a different colour into 3 thin sausage shapes. Stick these to the paws.

8. Lastly, position the paws so that they curl around the front 2 leaves. This will make the animal appear as though it is peeping through the leaves!

In just 8 simple steps you have decorated your animal cupcakes! Don't they look great? Why not have a go at making a matching birthday cake - see our jungle cake tutorial below!
