instructions

Bake a batch of your favourite cupcakes in our white baking cups (or the pink or aqua baking cups, if you prefer!) and leave these to cool before you begin to decorate.

Preparing The Cupcakes

1. Once you have baked your cupcakes and let them cool down, it's time to decorate! You can choose to pipe frosting straight onto your cupcakes, or cover them first with a circle of white sugarpaste as we have done here. If your cupcakes are a little shallow in their cases, this can help to give them a little height boost!

Frosting & Roses Design

2. This design is going to require 4 things; a piping bag, 1M piping tip, vanilla frosting and sugar roses! Start by popping the 1M piping tip in your piping bag and fill this with vanilla frosting. Twist the bag at the top to keep the frosting tightly packed within the bag.

3. Starting in the centre of your cupcake and working your way outwards and upwards, pipe a tall swirl of frosting.

4. Take a sugar rose and carefully place this into the frosting in the centre of the cupcake.

Making Domed Cupcake Toppers

5. For this you'll need a pack of purple foam domed cupcake balls to help you mould and shape your toppers! Start by taking some baby pink sugarpaste and roll this out to approximately 3mm thick. Using a large round cutter, cut out as many circles as you need to cover your cupcakes.

6. Place each circle on top of the foam balls and gently use your fingers to press and mould the sugarpaste around the edge of the foam ball, until it sits perfectly on top of it. Leave the sugarpaste to dry for a while so that it retains its shape.

Bunting Design

7. For the bunting design, start by taking a sugar sheet (any colour or style that you want) and firmly press the metal star cutter into this.

8. Using a sharp knife, cut off the legs of the star to form the triangular bunting shapes. Repeat this step using the rest of your sugar sheets (here we've gone for blue & pink sugar sheets). Cut out as many triangles as you need for each cupcake.

9. Arrange each bunting piece on top of the sugarpaste topper in a triangular pattern and secure into place using a little edible glue.

10. To make the string for your bunting design, you'll need a Wilton Icing Tube in white, a standard coupler/ adapter and a Wilton small round piping tip. Attach the piping tip to the icing tube using the coupler.

11. Press the tube to release the icing and carefully pipe a line from one corner of the triangle bunting to another. Lastly, pipe two wiggly lines at the ends of the bunting.

Daisy & Butterfly Design

12. To make the daisy & butterfly cupcakes, firstly take a piece of white sugarpaste and roll this out to roughly 2mm thick. Use a small butterfly cutter and press this firmly into the sugarpaste. To emboss the details onto the butterfly, press down on the plunger.

13. Cut out a daisy using the same method as the butterfly, but for this use a daisy plunger cutter that is slightly larger than the butterfly.

14. Take the daisy and place this in the centre of your cupcake, using a little edible glue to keep it in place. Dab a small amount of edible glue in the centre of the daisy and carefully sprinkle some yellow non-pareils (hundreds and thousands) over the glue. This will make a beautiful & textured centre for your daisy!

15. Now turn your attention back to the butterfly. Take a very small sable brush and some shimmer pink lustre dust, and dab this around the edges of the wings of the butterfly. This will create a gorgeous shaded effect and give your simple butterfly pretty detail.

16. Stick the butterfly to the daisy at an angle, using a little edible glue to keep it in place. If you want the butterfly to appear more '3D', gently bend it's wings upwards.

Tea Party Plaque Design

17. The last design allows you to play around with text and customise the cupcakes to your occasion! Start by rolling out some white sugarpaste to approximately 2mm thick. Use a fluted-edge cutter (second smallest one in the set) to cut out a wavy-edged circle.

18. Now you're going to use Impressit stamps to create your message. Carefully stick each letter to the acrylic block and gently press this into the sugarpaste to emboss the text.

19. You can now choose whether to use this as it is or make the text stand out more by using an edible pen or paste colour to colour in the outlines! Here we've used a little shimmer pink lustre dust to match our designs.

20. Position the plaque in the centre of your cupcake, again using edible glue to keep it in place.
